My name is Kirsty, Milnes, by the way and at this current moment in time I am 20 years old. I am studying a BA Hons in Textiles & Surface Design at the Cleveland College of Art and Design (CCAD) in Hartlepool. It’s a nice, quaint little place, but it’s a lot smaller than home. Home for me is a little old place called Carlisle up in Cumbria.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t get into textiles until relatively late in my education; when I started my Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, in which I specialised in textiles. I love all things embroidery. Working with surface design means working on a relatively flat surface, but that doesn’t mean I can’t embroider back into my work – which I choose to do 99% of the time.

So, in a nutshell, there you have me. I’ll be using this blog to post all sorts of wonderful textile-y things like research, areas of interest and my work.

You’ll find a page dedicated to my work on this blog, but feel free to visit my Instagram as well as it’s likely to be more up to date.
